Galactic History 45: The Krath Cult

Galactic History 45: The Rise and Reign of the Krath Cult: A Dark Chapter in Galactic History

This datacron holds a fragment of unparalleled power and insight, a shard of a much larger galactic tapestry. As you access its energy, ancient knowledge floods your mind, revealing a dark chapter of history:

The Rise of the Krath Cult

As history has shown, the seeds of darkness often germinate in unexpected places. The Jedi are all too familiar with the truth of this, and the rise of the Krath Cult serves as a poignant reminder. In the aftermath of the Great Droid Revolution, the galaxy was poised for a period of recovery and reflection. Yet, amid this fragile calm, a sinister force began to stir in the opulent Empress Teta system.

There, Satal Keto and his cousin Aleema, scions of a privileged aristocratic family, were consumed by ennui. The luxuries of wealth and status no longer satisfied their restless spirits. In their search for meaning and excitement, they turned to the ancient and forbidden: the secrets of the Sith. What began as idle curiosity quickly became a dangerous obsession, and with their inner circle of peers, they founded the Krath—a Sith cult dedicated to exploring the mysteries of dark power.

A Forbidden Relic

Satal and Aleema’s thirst for authentic power drove them to extreme measures. Their pivotal moment came during a visit to the prestigious Galactic Museum on Coruscant, where they stumbled upon an ancient Sith tome. The book, bound in darkened leather and inscribed with menacing runes, emanated an air of malice and mystery. Despite its being protected as a historical artifact, the cousins plotted and executed a daring heist, stealing the relic from beneath the museum’s security.

However, the book posed a significant challenge. Its text was written in an archaic Sith language, indecipherable even to the brightest minds of the Krath. Still, the cousins refused to give up, determined to unearth its secrets.

The Journey to Onderon

Their quest for knowledge led them to a name whispered in forbidden circles: Freedon Nadd, a Sith Lord who had once ruled the distant planet of Onderon. Onderon, a world steeped in Sith history, held the promise of answers. Satal and Aleema set their sights on the planet, confident that its dark legacy would help them unravel the mysteries of the stolen tome.

The journey to Onderon marked a turning point for the Krath. Immersed in the residual Sith energies of the planet, they began to delve deeper into rituals and dark arts. Freedon Nadd’s lingering influence guided their steps, and with time, they began to unlock the book’s secrets. The knowledge they uncovered was far more potent—and far more dangerous—than they had ever anticipated.

The Cult's Descent

What began as an idle diversion for the privileged aristocrats soon became a genuine force of darkness. Under Satal and Aleema’s leadership, the Krath grew in strength and influence, spreading fear across the Empress Teta system. Their experiments with Sith rituals granted them powers beyond imagination, but with these gifts came a descent into madness and cruelty. The Krath would go on to clash with the Jedi, leaving a trail of chaos in their wake.

This fragment of galactic history is a chilling reminder of how the lure of forbidden knowledge can transform the frivolous into the feared, and the curious into the corrupted. The rise of the Krath Cult would echo across the galaxy, its darkness a warning to those who dare to tread the Sith path.

This datacron holds unheard of power and knowledge collected by an ancient race. You access its power and discover writings which are clearly only one small piece of a massive galactic history:

As the Jedi know only too well, evil can arise from the most unlikely of sources. In the years after the Great Droid Revolution, two aristocrats, Satal Keto and his cousin Aleema, came to power in the Empress Teta system. Bored and spoiled, they became interested in the secrets of the Sith. They and their friends formed a Sith cult named Krath.

But Satal and Aleema began to crave real power. During a visit to the Galactic Museum on Coruscant, they spotted a book of ancient Sith lore and rituals and decided to steal it.

Once they had the book, they realized it was written in a long-forgotten Sith language. But Satal learned of the planet Onderon, once ruled by the Sith Lord Freedon Nadd, and the cousins left to unlock the book’s secrets there. (Codex Text - Star Wars the Old Republic / SWTOR)

Galactic History 43: The Great Droid Revolution

This datacron holds unheard of power and knowledge collected by an ancient race. You access its power and discover writings which are clearly only one small piece of a massive galactic history:

Debate had been raging in the Republic over the issue of droid rights: Did droids deserve the same treatment as organic beings, and was owning droids tantamount to slavery? This question was rendered moot when a Czerka-built assassin droid, HK-01, went rogue and began reprogramming other droids to rise up against their masters, in what would be called the Great Droid Revolution.

Republic citizens, surrounded by thousands of rogue droids–every model, from protocol to sanitation to battle units–found themselves at the mercy of their former servants. Several planets were subjugated in the name of the droid rebellion, until the signal controlling the droids was traced.

Following the signal, a team of Jedi destroyed HK-01, returning the rogue droids to their original programming. The relieved Republic returned to normal, and the issue of droid rights was not raised again. (Codex Text - Star Wars the Old Republic / SWTOR)

Onderon

Famed for its expansive jungles and deadly wildlife, the Inner Rim planet of Onderon has been a member of the Republic for centuries. Though its population is relatively small, the world has played a major role in many key conflicts and events in galactic history.

The vast majority of Onderon's people live within the planet's capital city, Iziz. The government is a constitutional monarchy, with the present ruling dynasty tracing its lineage to Queen Talia, who ruled the planet in the chaotic era of the Jedi Civil War. (Codex Text - Star Wars the Old Republic / SWTOR)
